INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER III - University of Houston

December 2015 - Present

  • Steering committee member for UH System Innovative Teaching and Learning Symposium
  • University liaison and manager for Turnitin and Mediasite
  • Designed and maintained department website, ITLS site, instructional design blog, and ITLD site
  • Redesigned and modernized the style for the University Blackboard environment
  • Worked closely with the Vice Provost for Educational Innovation and Technology to develop homegrown applications for video hosting and textbook integrations with Blackboard
  • Gave multiple presentations to faculty groups across campus on topics such as rubric and assessment development, humanizing feedback, video integration, Turnitin, Blackboard, course design, etc.


INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER II - University of Houston

October 2014 - December 2015

  • Project lead for the first MOOC produced by the UH College of Liberal Arts and Social sciences: “The Bilingual Brain,” taught by Dr. Arturo Hernandez and hosted on Coursera
  • Consulted units across the University on a variety of needs from course design, video production and program marketing
  • Created and organized “Emerging Trends in Educational Technology,” an ongoing forum for faculty to learn about new technology, issues, and strategies for teaching online and hybrid courses
  • Worked closely with faculty and instructors to design and develop pedagogically sound online, hybrid and enhanced courses congruent with current best practices for e-learning
  • Worked with faculty to write internal grant proposals for the design and development of online courses
  • Gave multiple presentations to faculty groups across campus on topics such as rubric and assessment development, humanizing feedback, video integration, Turnitin, Blackboard, course design, etc.


WEB DEVELOPER I - University of Houston

October 2013 - October 2014

  • Coordinated with faculty and department administrators to design and write content for websites within the University of Houston content management system
  • Initiated and managed Mediasite lecture capture deployment across the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, including overseeing the work of four graduate technology assistants
  • Designed and implemented special faculty web projects on our Wordpress server by creating custom themes and integrating video, Google Maps and other media in order to render research suitable to a web-based audience
  • Led training for faculty and student constituents on Blackboard, Google Sites, Wordpress, Mediasite and other web-based and software applications
  • Created posters, brochures, and other collateral for course, program, departmental and college promotion


COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR - Catholic University of America

May 2011 - June 2013

  • Designed and implemented [html/css] an online student portal for the First-Year Experience (FYE) to aid students in registration and orientation, as well as serving as a gateway for student-teacher interaction
  • Managed all day-to-day activities of the portal including: written articles, graphic design, photography, audio and video content
  • Created retention dashboards for upper-level administration using Hobson’s Retain to indicate risk levels
  • Worked with Institutional Assessment to create student surveys to measure student engagement and satisfaction with the University
  • Coordinated with units/departments throughout the University and guided participants on integrating multimedia and targeted communications into their teaching and advising
  • Organized FYE teaching workshops designed to aid instructors in the integration of technology into their courses and presented on blogging, social media, presentation software, podcasting and video recording
  • Designed and edited an FYE summer reader (In a Sense All Tings: A CUA Primer) as well as companion pieces (video, audio, text) for each reading on http://primer.cua.edu
  • Created, organized and promoted the first FYE Lecture Series, bringing together all incoming freshman four times per academic year
